About the Speaker
Mr. Gulliver has had extensive experience treating and managing patients with tinnitus and is one of the main referral centers for persons with severe tinnitus in Atlantic Canada. He has Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) training from Dr. P. Jastreboff (Atlanta, Georgia) and is Director of the Tinnitus Support Group of Atlantic Canada.
Mark Gulliver graduated from Dalhousie University (Halifax) in 1983 with a Master of Science degree in Human Communication Disorders (Audiology). He has been a clinical Audiologist for 27 years, the past 25 with the Nova Scotia Hearing and Speech Centres.

Gary Direnfeld, MSW, RSW is a social worker with more than 28 years of experience working with adults, teenagers, and young children. He has a weekly parenting column and he hosts the reality television show "Newlywed, Nearly Dead" working with newlywed couples. In 2009 he served as Energizer's spokesperson discussing the impact of hearing loss on relationships involving:
- young children and their parents
- kids in school
- intimate relationships
- middle-aged persons with aging parents
- managing in the workplace
