Planned Giving
What Is Planned Giving?
Through an overall estate plan you can endow a charity through a specific
bequest in your will, as a beneficiary under a life insurance policy or in the
form of a charitable gift annuity.
After providing for those they love and for any commitments, most people look to
provide something to an institution or a charity that has touched their lives or
the lives of their loved ones. The Canadian Hard of Hearing Association
Newfoundland and Labrador touches the lives of many people in the province.
The Planned Giving Program, a program operated by The Canadian Hard of Hearing
Association Newfoundland and Labrador can assist you in determining the most
appropriate contribution method based on your circumstances. This is achieved
through consultation with legal, financial and estate planning expertise.
Your Options…..
A Bequest
Through the execution of a proper will you can make a specific bequest to The
Canadian Hard of Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador. This can take
the form of either cash, property, or a portion of the residue of your estate.
Trust Fund
Often loved ones are honored with the establishment of a trust fund in their
memory. The interest earned by the fund can be directed to The Canadian Hard of
Hearing Association Newfoundland and Labrador for specific purposes or to meet
the needs of the association.
Life Insurance
The income tax act makes provision for minimizing tax on death through the
naming of a charity as the primary beneficiary under a life insurance policy.
The charity will issue a tax receipt for the amount of the proceeds, thus tax
relief to the estate.
Annuity
This option of planned giving is very tax efficient in that you can donate
assets (stocks, bonds, real property) to The Canadian Hard of Hearing
Association Newfoundland and Labrador. The income earned on these assets can be
paid to you during your lifetime. You will receive a tax receipt immediately,
for the amount donated.
