Chris Murphy (L), Janeway Audiology accepts donation from the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association - Newfoundland and Labrador (CHHA-NL) Board of Directors member Noreen Brazil (R).

The donation is a cochlear implant processor to be used by individuals on a loan basis when their processor is being repaired.

House of Commons Launches Innovative Captioning Service

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has announced that, beginning in September 2008, programs broadcast between 6:00 p.m. and midnight will have to be closed captioned for people with a hearing loss. Labrador-Grenfell Health has made arrangements with an audiologist to provide audiology services for the region. Joan Harron will be holding audiology clinics in St. Anthony, Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Labrador City. 

Ms. Harron is able to offer a range of clinical audiology testing.  Clients are asked to note that a physician referral is not required- self-referrals are accepted. The first clinical session will run from January 7 - March 1 with plans for the following additional sessions throughout the year: April 13 to June 7, July 20 to August 30 and September 28 to November 8.
